Abstract
A draft report estimates the direct costs to industry associated with the implementation of the principal provisions of the proposed Toxic Substances Control Act (S.776). The annual direct costs are estimated to be between $78.5 and 141.5 million. About two-thirds of these costs are shown to be attributable to the areas of premarket screening and regulatory actions, with about one-third attributable to the requirements concerning industrial testing and reporting.
