Abstract
The RPM Site Database is a subset of information collected by inerviewing EPA Regional Remedial Project Managers (RPMs) during the summer of 1993. The interviews collected key data on 1,249 final and deleted Superfund sites on the National Priorities List (NPL) as of August 1993. RPMs provided technical insight with respect to each site, including projected costs, potential future land use, additional work to be carried out at the site, and other pertinent information. RPMs were encouraged to make educated guesses when definitive data were not available. EPA recommends the database be used to assess national trends and not for site-specific analyses. Site identification information (e.g. region, state, location, facility ID, operable units, etc) was taken from CERCLIS, the official Superfund program data repository. Other data types are: (1) site, groundwater and outlier characteristics including information on current and past site uses and activities; (2) Potentially Liable/Responsible Parties, including types and profiles of responsible parties (e.g. de minimis parties, owners, generators/transporters, municipalities); (3) response actions, including media being addressed, future land use assumptions, basis for selected response actions and cleanup standards; (4) cost information, including projected capital and operation and maintenance (O&M) costs. The user guide appendix contains tabulated responses to all questions on the RPM data collection form and a data dictionary.
