Abstract
The purpose of the conference was to bring together the State water pollution control agencies, representatives of the Federal Water Pollution Control Administration and other interested parties to review the existing pollution situation, to appraise what has been done, to correct the situation so far, to lay a basis for future action, and give the states and localities an opportunity to take whatever remedial action is possible and practicable under state and local law.
