Abstract
A method was developed for validating outdoor smog chamber experiments as a means of determining the relationships between oxidant concentrations and its precursors - hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxides. When chamber experiments were performed in a manner that simulated relevant meteorological processes and precursor concentrations, the validation method showed that photochemical smog reactions observed in the smog chamber generally agreed with data from the Los Angeles Reactive Pollutant Program (LARPP). The LARPP data consist of detailed airborne and ground level pollutant and meteorological measurements.
