Abstract
In a subchronic toxicity study, male and female Sprague-Dawley rats (5/sex/group) were fed diets containing crotonaldehyde at dose nominal dose levels of 0, 22, 44, 88 or 175 mg/kg/day for 14 days. Actual mean dosages (male/female) for the above groups were: 0/0, 19/17, 36/36, 73/68, and 139/136 mg/kg/day, respectively. There were no statistically significant differences between treated and control animals in the following: mortality, clinical signs of toxicity, body weight, food consumption, efficiency of food utilization (change in body weight/weekly food consumption), and absolute or relative organ weights. There were no exposure-related gross lesions observed in any of the treated groups.
