Waste Reduction Institute for Training and Applications Research, Inc. (WRITAR) is continuing a process of compiling and summarizing existing and emerging state legislation dealing with pollution prevention and facility planning. The authors purpose is to provide a reference tool for all states involved in the set-up and implementation of such legislation, as well as for any other interested parties. The summaries serve only as a starting point, but ought to be useful in getting states tied into various statutory features and directions that may be desirable to them. The pieces of legislation included in the volume have as their main feature provisions that establish a pollution prevention agency and activities or a facility planning structure. The acts emphasize source reduction as the preferred method of pollution prevention.
