Abstract
This study contributes to the development of a means to accurately, efficiently, and fairly assess a wetland's condition in the context of the surrounding watershed can then be used to implement protective and restorative strategies that are appropriate for both the individual wetland and the watershed. The objectives for the study are: to determine and report on the ecological condition of wetlands in the Juniata River watershed using a series of assessment tools; evaluate the feasibility of integrating a series of bioindicators into the wetland condition assessments for the two sub-watersheds; and evaluate the feasibility of using citzen volunteers to apply the wetland monitoring protocols throughout the Juniata River watershed.
