Abstract |
Though EPA and its partners have made great progress in protecting the environment, the Agency is committed to continual improvement. EPA has a long history of thoughtfully examining its existing regulations to make sure they are effectively and efficiently meeting the needs of the American people. Both statutory and judicial obligations have compelled some of our reviews. Others arise from independent EPA decisions to improve upon existing regulations. In fact, of EPAs current regulatory workload, almost two-thirds of our activity is a review of an existing regulation; of the approximately 200 active actions that are expected to be listed in EPAs soon-to-publish Spring 2011 Semiannual Regulatory Agenda, roughly 60% are reviews of existing regulations. Just as EPA will apply the principles and directives of EO 13563 to the priority actions listed in section 2 of this Plan, we will likewise apply the EOs principles and directives to the regulatory reviews that will appear in the Regulatory Agenda. |
