Abstract
The objective of the report is to provide an inventory of the more extensive data sets on marine fishes in Puget Sound. Information on location, date, gear used, number of sets made, depths sampled, and types of data recorded were reviewed and included in the inventory to determine if the data were available in sufficient spatial and temporal coverage, and of sufficient quality, to evaluate trends in the distribution and abundance of selected species over time. Several university trawl logs, beach seine data, commercial trawl data, herring spawning surveys, and sport fishing record data were identified. In the subsequent Characterization Report, data were analyzed for trends in both distribution and abundance of common and rare species.
