Abstract
This document is the emission inventory Technical Support Document (TSD) for the Clean Air Interstate Rule (CAIR) rulemaking by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). It includes descriptions of the approach and data used for the emissions inventory and emissions processing for air quality modeling, as described in the CAIR Air Quality Modeling TSD. The emissions modeling effort has involved preparation of emissions input data for the Community Multiscale Air Quality (CMAQ) model, for the purposes of modeling particulate matter (PM). The model required hourly emissions for the entire year of 2001 on a 36-km national grid of the following pollutants: carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen oxides (NOX), volatile organic compounds (VOC), sulfur dioxide (SO2), ammonia (NH3), particulate matter less than or equal to 10 microns (PM10), and particulate matter less than or equal to 2.5 microns (PM2.5).
