Abstract
In 1979 the City of Hagerstown, Maryland embarked upon a very aggressive sanitary sewer collection system rehabilitation program utilizing sewer lining by the 'Insituform' method, testing and sealing of joints and manholes with chemical grout, and the point repair of sewer mains. A review has been made of results. In addition, the author or his representative reviewed a site in LaGrange Highlands, Illinois, where sliplining with a conventional polyethylene liner was being performed, and thirteen 'Insituform' sites. The study compares these repair options. For the 'Insituform' process discussion includes installation procedures and problems, the product limitations, spatial requirements of the equipment, and safety hazards and procedures.
