| Abstract | DDT and DDE residue levels in blood plasma from 192 children in South Carolina, ages 6-9 years, indicated that Negro children had levels two to three times higher than white children. DDT residues averaged 18.4 ppb in Negroes and 6.7 ppb in whites; DDE values for these two races were 55.6 ppb and 24.8 ppb, respectively. White males in this group also had significantly higher levels of both compounds than white females. From the data in this study, baseline levels for a high-risk pediatric group, usually prone to pesticide poisoning, were established. |
