Abstract
This report is a compilation of papers on the subject of the substitute chemicals program. Papers deal with such related areas as: purpose, organization, and operation of the substitute chemicals program; initial scientific, mini-economic, biosphere, and socioeconomic reviews; progress in EPA research - new directions and overview; worldwide pesticide research and perspectives; WHO in pesticide research, as well as food and griculture organization; U.S. participation in Codex; prerequisite conditions for determination and efficient realization of substitute chem. program in some European and developing countries; EPA's pesticide monitoring program; research in USDI; nonagricultural use pesticides; future of pesticide research; overview of ecological effects; terrestrial effects, and marine life, and fresh water effects; preliminary systems analysis as a tool for research program design; intra-and extramural health effects research and long-range health effects.
