| Abstract | The Lees Lane Landfill (LLL) site is located adjacent to the Ohio River in Jefferson County, Kentucky. Land use at the site has included a sand and gravel quarry, a junkyard, and a landfill. An investigation detected explosive levels of methane gas and seven families were evacuated from homes near the site. Surface water, soil, and ground water are contaminated with benzene, heavy metals including lead, arsenic, and chromium, and inorganics. |
