Abstract
Between 80 and 100 million gallons of industrial oils are purchased by Illinois industries annually. Their use results in the disposal of approximately 50-80 million gallons of potentially recoverable used oil. The major consequences of current disposal practices are large scale losses of a valuable dwindling resource, and the potential for improper disposal methods. This report examines alternative state policies which would encourage more widespread industrial used oil recovery.
