| Abstract | This guide surveys and lists the classification systems in use by state and Federal agencies in 18 western states and the provinces of Alberta and Manitoba in Canada. The guide--limited primarily to wildlife, land use, and terrestrial vegetation--provides summary descriptions of classification systems, and the data base and the techniques required to implement these systems. System descriptions are divided into three sections: local systems, regional and multi-regional systems, plus some Canadian systems. Each system summary includes the title of the system, contact person, objectives, background, description, products and related systems. Author and keyword indexes and a glossary of terms are included. |
