| Abstract | The guidance addresses the adoption of toxics criteria in water quality standards pursuant to new section 303(c)(2)(B) of the Clean Water Act (CWA), as added by the Water Quality Act of 1987 (WQA). The guidance pertains to toxic pollutants listed pursuant to Section 307(a) of the Clean Water Act (CWA). EPA is proposing that a State may meet these requirements in the law in one of three scientifically and technically sound ways (or some combination thereof). The options are discussed. |
