Abstract |
This communication is a summary of tests conducted by 3M with isooctyl acrylate (IOA) monomer and IOA homopolymer. The studies were initiated in 1979 after 2-ethylhexyl acrylate was associated with squamous cell carcinoma in a lifetime skin application study. Groups of forty mice approximately 74 to 79 days old were treated respectively with the maximum tolerated dose of IOA monomer (5% solution in acetone), with 20% solution in 70/30 acetone/heptane of the polymer and with acetone alone as a control. There were three applications per week until the animals died. |
