Abstract
The dermal absorption of the JAU 6476, with the compound uniformly labeled with carbon-14 in the benzene ring of the molecule, was studied using young adult male Wistar rats, weighing about 250 g. The JAU 6476 was formulated as a 25 percentage emulsifiable concentrate (250 EC), as proposed for use in agricultural practice. The formulation was applied to a skin area of 10 cm2 at nominal dose levels (based on the active ingredient) of 25 and 0.067 mg per rat. The rats were exposed under non-ocolusive conditions to the emulsifiable concentrate or its aqueous 373-fold dilution (field dilution) for a 24 hour period. At the end of the exposure period, the rats were sacrificed. The results reported refer to parent compound equivalents (i.e., the sum of the parent compound and its biotransformation products). Furthermore, the radioactivity in the skin from the application site and the rinsing solutions of the application site from one rat from each treatment group were analyzed for parent compound and the metabolite SXX 0665 by HPLC and TLC.
