Abstract
The Charlotte Harbor National Estuary Program (CHNEP) is a partnership of citizens, elected officials, resource managers and commercial and recreational resource users who are working to improve the water quality and ecological integrity of Charlotte Harbor's estuaries and watersheds. A cooperative decision- making process is used to address diverse resource management concerns in the 4,700-square-mile CHNEP study area. This plan is our commitment to the future. The Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan (CCMP) addresses four priority problems that are common throughout the CHNEP study area and that have been identified to impede the health of the watersheds and estuaries. They are water quality degradation, hydrologic alterations, fish and wildlife habitat loss and stewardship gaps. The CCMP includes a series of graphic vision maps, quantifiable objectives, priority actions and many support documents.
