Abstract
The equation for unsteady and unsaturated flow of water in soils was derived by Klute in 1952 and since then many efforts have been made to obtain a solution to this equation. Some successful numerical procedures for the solution have been developed for the one-dimensional form of the equation, but the two- and three-dimensional forms of this equation have been untouched because of the mathematical complexities involved. The writer has succeeded in obtaining a solution to the two-dimensional diffusion equation. (Modified author abstract)
