Abstract
This document was developed from two previous versions entitled Assigning Values To Nondetected/Nonquantified Pesticide Residues into Human Health Dietary Exposure Assessments and A Statistical Method for Incorporating Nondetected Pesticide Residues into Human Health Dietary Exposure Assessments that were released for public comment in December of 1998 (63 FR 67063-67066). The Agency received comments from various organizations. Each of the commenters offered recommendations for improving the science policy. All comments were extensively evaluated and considered by the Agency. This revised version embodies many of the sentiments and recommendations of the commenters. The public comments, as well as a detailed summary of the Agency's response to the comments are being made available in the Federal Register. This document was drafted for the purpose of providing non-binding guidance to interested stakeholders regarding the evaluation of non-detects in pesticide risk assessments. It contains Office of Pesticide Program's (OPP's) view concerning a reasonable way of addressing this issue. Although OPP will consider this guidance in evaluating risk assessments, this guidance does not bind OPP decisionmakers. Stakeholders remain free to comment on the application of the policy to individual pesticides or on the appropriateness of the policy itself. OPP will carefully take into account all comments that are received.
