Abstract |
A method was developed for the determination of rotenone in wastewaters. The method development program consisted of a literature review; determination of extraction efficiency for each compound from water into methylene chloride; development of a deactivated silica gel cleanup procedure; and determination of a suitable high performance liquid chromatographic (HPLC) method with ultraviolet (UV) detection. The final method was applied to a relevant industrial wastewater to determine the precision and accuracy of the method. The method detection limit (MDL) for rotenone in distilled water was 1.6 micrograms/l. The MDL in wastewaters may be higher due to interfering compounds. |
