| Abstract | The purpose of the report is to present a review of stabilization and disinfection methods for municipal wastewater treatment plant sludges. Particular emphasis is on lime stabilization. Other unit processes which are discussed include anaerobic and aerobic digestion, chlorination, heat treatment, flash drying, long-term lagooning, and irradiation. A comparison of the performance, capital and annual operation and maintenance costs for lime stabilization and anaerobic digestion have also been included. |
