Abstract
Attempting to reduce their use of fossil fuels, some homeowners are using such systems as the residential heat pump. Although this device is miserly with its consumption of electricity, it is generally noisy, in fact, noisy enough to violate state and city noise regulations. A study was conducted to determine methods of reducing the noise impact of residential heat pumps. The purpose of this report is to present some noise abatement methods that may be used to minimize property line noise levels resulting from their operation.
