Abstract
The directive provides supplemental guidance to the October 18, 1989 OSWER directive 9355.4-03, entitled 'Consideration in Ground Water Remediation at Superfund Sites,' which examined the role of ground water remediation in Superfund cleanups and recommends modifications to the current approach. It offers suggested language for Records of Decision corresponding to the recommendations 1 and 2 from the OSWER Directive. The recommendations are: (1) initiation of early or interim response measures; and (2) provision for changes in the remedy during implementation in the Record of Decision. The Directive offers standard language that may be employed, when appropriate, to correspond to site-specific remediation scenarios. Language is suggested for Final Actions, Contingency Measures/Goals, and Interim Actions.
