Abstract
This decision document presents the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA's) selection of the remedial action for the third operable unit of the Preferred Plating Corporation Superfund Site (Site). This is the third and final operable unit for the Site, which addresses potential groundwater contamination that has been detected in the upgradient portion of the Site at Del Laboratories, Inc. (Del). EPA in consultation with the NYSDEC has determined that this contamination does not pose a significant threat to human health or the environment and, therefore, remediation is not appropriate. This determination is based on previous cleanup activities at Del's facility, the cleanup activities that are planned under the two other operable units at the Site, and the remedial investigation and the human health risk assessment that were conducted for the third operable unit.
