Abstract
Site 17-Pesticide Shop is located at Naval Air Station (NAS) Patuxent River, Maryland. This ROD presents the following final remedy for Operable Unit 1 (OU 1) soil at Site 17; excavation of soil that poses an unacceptable risk to human health (soil with contaminant concentrations that exceed human health and groundwater protection remediation criteria (RC)); conduct site-specific soil toxicity and bioaccumulation tests during the remedial design and remedial action (RD/RA) on the contaminated soil; if there is an unacceptable risk to ecological receptors, the Navy shall place a vegetated soil and gravel cover over the contaminated soil that poses an unacceptable risk to ecological receptors; and institutional controls to limit the use of the property so that integrity of the gravel and soil cover will not be compromised.
