Abstract
The ROD sets forth the selected remedy for the Linemaster Switch Corporation Superfund Site, which includes both source control and management of migration components to obtain a comprehensive remedy. The major components of the selected source control remedy include: In situ vacuum extraction of contaminated soil to remove volatile organic compounds (VOCs); Institutional controls, that shall consist of a fence surrounding the contamination source area to restrict access to this area; and an environmental monitoring program. The major components of the selected management of migration remedy include: extraction of contaminated groundwater from the overburden and bedrock using extraction wells; treatment of contaminated groundwater using air stripping with carbon air emission controls; an environmental monitoring program to include, at a minimum, monitoring on-site and off-site groundwater monitoring wells and drinking water supply wells; and institutional controls that shall include, at a minimum, deed restrictions to prevent the use of untreated contaminated groundwater until the cleanup levels are met.
