Abstract
The Interim Response Action (IRA) alternatives assessment and decision process for the underground storage tanks (USTs) at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal (RMA) will be a discrete element of the Chemical Process-Related Activities IRA. Alternatives have been reviewed based on their overall protectiveness of human health and the environment; compliance to the maximum extent practicable with Applicable or Relevant and Appropriate Requirements (ARARs); reduction in toxicity, mobility, or volume; short-term and long-term effectiveness; implementability; and cost-effectiveness. The preferred alternative consists of cleaning and removing the USTs and disposing of them by cutting them up for scrap.
