Abstract
The limestone/gypsum flue gas desulfurization system has proved reliable in controlling SO2 emissions from large boilers and producing a salable, wallboard-quality gypsum. This process has been the most popular FGD system in Japan however, few new systems are being installed since fuel oil desulfurization had become more cost-competitive, ambient air SO2 levels have declined, and gypsum supplies are abundant.
