Abstract
The document both describes procedures for data collection and describes how to access and use data that have been collected in order to assess surface water trends that may be related to acidic deposition. The data collection methods described in Part 1, the Quality Assurance Plan for the Long-Term Monitoring Project, are well accepted methods, generally in agreement with those used for the Aquatic Effects Research Project National Surface Water Surveys. The Data Dictionary describes access to a data base that contains information relevant to the assessment of the effects of acidic deposition on surface waters. Trend analyses and interpretations of these data will be reported in a series of journal articles that will comprise a special issue of Water, Air and Soil Pollution.
