Abstract |
The Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) was prepared in response to the proposed action of awarding grant funds to Guilford County, North Carolina for the purpose of developing a wastewater treatment system to service the Greensboro-Guilford area of which the Horsepen Creek Interceptor is a part. The project consists of the necessary facilities to transport wastewater from the Horsepen Creek basin to the City of Greensboro wastewater collection system for treatment. The EIS provides an inventory of existing conditions in the area, develops and evaluates alternatives for the provision of wastewater facilities, describes the selected alternative, and provides a discussion of unavoidable adverse impacts and potential mitigative measures. The major issue addressed in the EIS is the potential impact of growth induced in the EIS provision of wastewater facilities on water quality in Lake Brandt which is a major source of drinking water for the City of Greensboro. |
