| Abstract | The objectives of this research were to investigate the role of the environmental, biochemical or other factors responsible for the occurrence of phasic or concurrent assimilation of two competing substrates; to obtain basic information necessary for formulation of mathematical models describing the kinetics of assimilation of the competing substrates; and to identify the probable cellular mechanisms that regulate the pattern (sequential or concurrent) of substrate assimilation. |
