Abstract
The study supplies the Environmental Protection Agency with an analytical framework for determining the economic impact of water pollution control requirements and water effluent standards upon the flat glass industry. The industry was segmented into sectors; Sheet Glass (SIC 3211), Plate Glass (SIC 3211), Float Glass (SIC 3211), Laminated Glass (SIC 3231), and Tempered Glass (SIC 3211). There were no plant closings, and the expected price increase for BPT (Best Practical Technology) is less than 0.1% and less than 0.3% for BAT (Best Available Technology). The expected capital investment required for pollution control be $1,133,000 for BPT, $5166,000 for BAT. The expected annualized cost including operating, maintenance, and capitalization of the investment will be $447,000 for BPT and $1,409,000 for BAT.
