Abstract
The report presents the Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs) developed for stream segments in the Glanraffan Creek Watershed. These were done to address the water quality impairments noted on the 1996 Pennsylvania Section 303(d) list of impaired waters, required under the Clean Water Act, and covers one segment on this list. High levels of metals caused these impairments, and all impairments are a result of leachate from a closed landfill. The TMDL addresses iron, the primary metal associated with landfill leachate, as well as manganese and aluminum. Because the cause of the pollution to Glanraffan Creek is metals, the same methodology will be used as that in Pennsylvania's Acid Mine Drainage (AMD) TMDL reports.
