Abstract
A mathematical model was developed to simulate watersheds in flat areas with many surface depressions and to indicate the response due to watershed changes. The model, which simulates the watershed discharge and soil moisture status continuously throughout the crop season is based on a single-storm hydrologic model and uses daily pan evaporation and time-depth precipitation records as input. It simulates the processes of interception, surface storage, infiltration, surface runoff, soil profile storage, percolation to the water table, subsurface tile drainage, soil moisture redistribution, evapotranspiration, depression routing, tile-main routing, and drainage ditch routing. The resulting outputs are daily evapotranspiration, soil moisture status in the crop root zone, and watershed discharge. (Modified author abstract)
