Abstract
An empirical model for tidal currents in Puget Sound, the Strait of Juan de Fuca, and the Southern Strait of Georgia was constructed in support of trajectory modelling and surface drifter analyses of the MESA Puget Sound Project. The model uses NOS tidal constituents for current measurements from 157 stations from the region and interpolates among them to represent the spatial variation of the region. The spatial interpolation is based on previous identification of areas or family groups of grid points expected to have similar temporal behavior.
