Abstract | The report covers an evaluation study of air pollution emissions based upon an extensive literature search and field trips to 15 tepee burners in six states. Smoke as a function of composition and rate of charge was observed, and the effect of burner charging methods, construction, and operational procedures on smoke emissions recorded. None of the tepee incinerators observed in operation meet normal visible emission limitations of air pollution control ordinances of most municipalities. Nuisance problems from fly-ash fallout can be expected within distances of up to 1,290 feet downwind from an operating tepee. (Author) |
