Abstract
Six irrigated fields in the Oklahoma Panhandle were instrumented to determine the amount and time distribution of surface runoff from furrow irrigation. Type H flumes with water level recorders were used to obtain a continuous permanent record of the runoff. The volume of runoff was calculated as a percentage of the volume of water applied for the individual sets and each series of irrigation sets. The variation in runoff percent of the individual sets was analyzed. The characteristics of the time distribution of the runoff from the irrigation sets were defined and used in the design of reuse systems. The total annual cost of installing and operating reuse systems is justified for five of the six fields instrumented. (Author)
