Abstract
These studies provide insight into problems of water resources management in a metropolitan region in Wisconsin, as a basis for assessing their implication for national policy. Researchers found that present wastewater treatment plants were constructed on an uncoordinated, individual basis with a lack of consideration for water-quality levels. Analysis of recent population, economic, and land-use trends produced the following observation: planning growth on a regional basis could alleviate the problems of greater burden on small streams and taxing capacity of sewage treatment and municipal water systems.
