Abstract |
This report describes results of the Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) method field validation test that was conducted at a coal-fired boiler facility. FTIR spectrometry is of interest in emissions testing because of its usefulness in performing multicomponent gas analyses. The procedures described in this report were designed to test FTIR spectrometry in conjunction with both the direct gas phase and concentration/thermal desorption sampling techniques, with the goal of determining the bias, precision, and range (sensitivity) of the measurement techniques. Comparison of these values to the requirements of EPA Method 301 were made on a compound-by-compound basis to determine the validity of the FTIR methods for testing of emissions from this type of source. |
