Abstract
An investigation was made of the reliability of continuous water quality monitoring on Fort Loudoun Reservoir. Two continuous monitoring systems were used, and the parameters of temperature, dissolved oxygen, pH, and conductivity were considered. Manual cross sectioning was used to determine the various values in the stream. At both stations, the data taken from the monitor was found to provide an accurate prediction of the conditions of the stream. A comparison of samples taken at the pumps and at the monitors showed that no appreciable change in any of the parameters was induced by the intake systems.
