Abstract
The primary purpose of the Dry Creek Interceptor is to transport the domestic wastes generated by a population of approximately 18,500 people within the 4.9 square mile sewer district. However, the existing sewer is often overloaded by rain water leaking into the sewer through cracks, breaks and unapproved connections. In order to eliminate this condition, the City of Wichita applied to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for a grant to replace the existing interceptor with a larger pipe which will eliminate this overloading.
