Abstract
The Emergency Medical Services Pilot Study is an outgrowth of two earlier pilot studies (NATO) on Road Safety and Advanced Health Care. This report covers the overall objectives of (1) collecting information regarding EMS practices and institutions in NATO nations and other nations who wished to participate, and (2) comparison and evaluation of this information as a basis for recommendations to improve emergency medical services provided to citizens of the participating nations. The five special projects which accomplished this were (1) EMS Survey Project, (2) Organization and management of EMS Systems, (3) Communications, First Response and Transportation, EMS Training and Public Education, and (5) Poison Control.
