Abstract

3M Company sample T-2012 AC was casted for mutagenicity with strains TAl535, TAl537, TAl538, TA98, and TAl00 of the bacterium Salmonella typhimurium. The assays were performed by exposure of the bacteria to various concentrations of the sample in desiccators. The material was also tested for mutagenicity with strains TA98 and TA100, using the standard Ames Salmonella/microsome assay. Each assay was performed in the presence and in the absence of a metabolic activation system. TA-2012 AC was mutagenic with and without metabolic activation in strains TA1535, TA98, and 14130 in the desiccator assay. It was not mutagenic in the standard Salmonella/microsome place incorporation assay.
