Abstract
The report describes a series of procedures for sizing dry aerosols and measuring H2SO4 entering and leaving the Shawnee flue gas desulfurization (FGD) prototype units. A Brink impactor was used to size dry particulate matter entering the FGD process. A manual system for the FGD process effluent was chosen on the basis of a literature survey, contacts with experts in the field, and an evaluation of available information. Chosen for the inlet was an FGD Meteorology Research Inc. cascade impactor. Finally, a method for H2SO4 vapor was developed which is based on the controlled condensation (Goksoyr/Ross) method. In addition to these procedures, a QA program was designed to ensure the overall quality of the data taken in the above procedures.
