| Abstract | The Burnt Fly Bog site is located in Marlboro Township, Monmouth County, New Jersey. The area is affected by contamination from the 10-acre parcel where waste was originally deposited (Uplands Area Operable Unit). The site includes both flood plains and wetlands. Contamination has been detected in the surface water, surface soil, and the shallow subsurface soil as a result of uncontrolled discharges and runoff from the Uplands Area waste sources. The Uplands Area includes several abandoned oil storage and treatment lagoons containing residual oil sludges and aqueous wastes, contaminated waste piles, and buried or exposed drummed wastes. The primary contaminants of concern affecting the surface water, soil and sediments are PCBs and lead. The selected remedial action for the site is included. |
