Abstract
A pilot study of filtration of secondary effluent was conducted. Turbidity and solids removal were similar for dual vs. trimedia filters, but headloss was higher across the latter. Coagulation-flocculation and sedimentation pretreatment resulted in a filter effluent superior to that when in-line coagulation alone was used and a lower rate of head loss build up. However, the latter produced acceptable results at a much lower cost.
