| Abstract |
The Oak Grove Sanitary Landfill covers 45 to 50 acres in Oak Grove Township, Anoka County, Minnesota, approximately 38 miles northwest of St. Paul. There are 249 people that live within 1 mile of the site and 6,786 reside within 4 miles. The majority of these residents depend on water from wells drawn primarily from the lower aquifer. The primary contaminants of concern affecting ground water and surface water are VOCs including ethyl benzene, toluene and xylenes. The selected remedial action for this site includes: installation of a security fence; capping with a final cover system consisting of a gas control layer, a barrier layer of low permeable material or a flexible membrane and a drainage layer; and topsoil cover and vegetation. |
